Reid] return from Paris, some of his paintings reflect the broad handling, extensive viewpoint and, broken colour mixture, and light-filled qualities of the Impressionist art he had seen in France - in particular in “The Berry Pickers”, “Idling”, “City and Country”, and “Across the Valley”.
